A new Saint Louis Zoo event is sure to set animal lovers' hearts aglow. The zoo will be illuminated by more than 60 larger-than-life Chinese lanterns and interactive displays in the shape of plants and wildlife for Animals Aglow, a new nighttime event set to debut March 13.

The Saint Louis Zoo closed out 2023 with the birth of Forest, a new baby orangutan. Rubih, a 19-year-old Sumatran orangutan, gave birth to her first baby on Dec. 22, 2023, at the zoo's Jungle of the Apes.
The Saint Louis Zoo announced the birth of three critically endangered Amur tiger cubs. The cubs, which were born Nov. 13, are the first successful tiger births at the zoo in more than 10 years and are a significant contribution to the population of Amur tigers in North American zoos. The largest of wild cats, this species is considered one of the most endangered big cats in the world.
The Saint Louis Zoo has announced plans for a new experience for children and families. Slated to open in 2026, the new 2.8-acre Henry A. Jubel Foundation Destination Discovery will feature an Underground Cities habitat, an Animals and Us building, a network of Forest Families treehouses, a Freshwater Wilderness and Water Play area, and an Education building. Destination Discovery is designed with the youngest guests in mind, emphasizing close-up encounters with animals in an immersive and hands-on learning environment for guests of all abilities.
