The event kicks off with programming geared toward children and middle grade readers in the morning. St. Louis Public Library - Schlafly Branch will host a Children’s Book Panel at 10:30 a.m. featuring Ann Ingalls, author of "Fairy Floss: The Sweet Story of Cotton Candy," and Shelley Michael, author of "All Aboard: The Adventures of Louise and Her Pink Polka Dot Suitcase." At 11:30 a.m. the library will host an in-conversation panel with middle grade authors Trenton Lee Stewart (author of “Mysterious Benedict Society” and the soon-to-be-released “The Secret Keepers”) and Kat Zhang (author of “The Hybrid Chronicles” and “The Emperor’s Riddle”).
At 1 p.m. visitors are invited to a Youth Adult Panel at The McPherson featuring Zac Brewer, writing under the name Heather Brewer, whose works include “The Works of Vladimir Tod,” “The Slayer Chronicles” and “The Cemetery Boys;” and Sherman Alexie, whose works include “The Absolutely True Story of a Part-Time Indian” and “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me.”
Those attending BookFest St. Louis can also purchase books, hear live music and browse booths hosted by other regional art and literary institutions.
