St. Louis Librarian Publishes His First Children's Book

QueenofFrance
MARCH 4, 2011 -- Tim Wadham, Assistant Director of St. Louis County Library, will see more than ten years of work come to fruition with the publication of "The Queen of France," a children's book set to debut this month. The hardback book is illustrated by Kady MacDonald Denton and published by Candlewick Press.

Pudd'nHead Books will hold a launch party for "The Queen of France" on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 2 p.m. Tim Wadham will attend. Pudd'nHead is located at 37 South Old Orchard Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63119. The release party is free and open to the public.

The book is summarized by the publisher as "a sweet homage to the easy affection between parents and an imaginative child." Early reviews are enthusiastic, with Publisher's Weekly giving "The Queen of France" a starred review. The book was inspired by an exchange several years ago between Wadham and his then very young daughter. His wife helped with dialogue, making the production a family affair.

This is Tim Wadham's first children's book, but fourth published book. The previous titles were non-fiction, how-to texts for librarians. Tim Wadham is Assistant Director of Youth and Community Services for St. Louis County Library. Wadham has over 20 years of experience providing public library service with a particular focus on youth and teens, and developing Spanish language collections for young audiences. Tim has a Ph.D. in comparative/children's literature from the University of Texas at Arlington and is one of the foremost experts on youth services in the nation.
