Six Flags Will Unveil SkyScreamer in 2011
Sept. 16, 2010 -- Six Flags St. Louis unveiled today plans to give their guests more to scream about in 2011 with the introduction of SkyScreamer. The newest sensation in tower rides, SkyScreamer joins the park’s lineup of thrills as it takes guests up, up and away high over the park, feet dangling and hair blowing.
Towering at 236-ft. above the ground, SkyScreamer will be the tallest ride in the park and reside in the Illinois section near the Screamin’ Eagle. Thirty-two guests will board the ride and sit two across in open air swings as they climb to the top of the SkyScreamer tower while spinning round and round. At full swing, guests will soar in a 98-ft. circle at speeds over 43 mph. By day, guests will have a bird’s eye view for miles away. By night, SkyScreamer will light up the night as its lighted arms whirl high above the park. Six Flags St. Louis anticipates that the ride will be open to guest 48 inches and taller.
"We are always searching for new and unique attractions that offer a broad appeal," states Dave Roemer, Park President of Six Flags St. Louis. "SkyScreamer brings yet another new experience to our lineup of thrills that is unlike any other we have in our theme park right now."
The SkyScreamer is manufactured by Funtime, out of Austria. The new ride is expected to open Spring of 2011.
