Kids are already enjoying the new playground at Glencoe City Park as Wildwood Parks and Recreation officials make their final touches to the area's newest park.

The park, at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Grand Street in Glencoe, is located along the Meramec Greenway. Currently, the park is equipped with a playground, featuring swings, a rock-climbing feature, a spinning basket and plenty of climbing equipment. The park also has picnic benches, paths (perfect for young cyclers), and a bathroom that has yet to open.

The park will soon be getting additional picnic and barbecue areas, lighting, signage, a shade umbrella and landscaping, said Gary Crews, superintendent of Wildwood Parks and Recreation. The park officially opens this fall when all work has been completed, he said.

Within walking distance from the Wabash Frisco and Pacific Railroad, this park allows families to make a day out of a visit to Glencoe.
