NOV. 29, 2010 -- It's been years in the making, but Ed and Tami Barrieau are finally ready to sell the Scotch pine Christmas trees they first planted at their farm seven years ago.

Valley Farms, located in Foristell, Mo., is the newest choose and cut Christmas tree farm in the rural areas encircling St. Louis. The Barrieau's opening day was Friday, Nov. 26.

"We are the only farm in the area with a massive selection of trees that are choose and cut," Ed Barrieau said. "We have plenty of trees of all sizes up to 10 feet tall."

Families are encouraged to walk the 21-acre farm in search of the perfect Scotch pine or browse the pre-cut Douglas and fraser firs. Families can bring their own saw or use those that are provided.

The farm is open every weekend day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to Christmas trees, the farm features friendly farm animals and a mini barn hay maze, Ed Barrieau said. Free hot cocoa is provided, and there is no admission fee.
