May 11, 2011 – The National Park Service invites shutterbugs of all ages to come down to the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial and capture unique snapshots for its "View from the Park" photo contest. The contest begins Sunday, May 15, and runs through Sunday, July 31. Participants can submit up to two photos in each of the three categories: nature, landscape and architecture. All photographs must be taken by the entrant and within the boundary of park. Entries can be submitted through www.nps.gov/jeff.

Entries will be judged on technical and pictorial merit by the following panel of three field experts:

• Kathy O'Donnell – photographer and Midwest Regional Coordinator for the Photographic Society of America
• Richard Glass – professional photographer and president of the St. Louis Camera Club
• Larry Bixby – photography enthusiast and National Park Service audio/visual specialist

Winning photographs will be displayed at the Gateway Arch from Aug. 15 to Sept. 15. Photographers can enter the "View from the Park" photo contest in either the youth group (ages 15 and under) or general group. Prizes, including a Kodak EasyShare digital camera for the first-place winners, will be provided to those that place in the contest.

Jefferson National Expansion Memorial and the Gateway Arch are part of the Core of Discovery, which is a multi-faceted, downtown destination to attract local families and increase visibility of the many attractions and activities in downtown St. Louis.
