OCT. 28, 2011 -- The Magic House is cooking up something special for its Fitness First Fridays: a Kids Iron Chef Challenge.

Visit the museum on Friday, Nov. 4, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. as ABC Chefs Cooking Academy presents a food challenge to get kids excited about eating healthier. The first 45 kids to register will compete in a healthy cook-off with the chance to win fun prizes. Challenges will take place at 5:45 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. with 15 slots available per session. Using nutritious ingredients on hand, kids will work together as a team to concoct a healthy and delicious recipe. In addition to the Kids Iron Chef Challenge, health and fitness activities and giveaways will take place throughout the night.

Fitness First Fridays allow families to stretch their muscles and their minds as they don pedometers and walk a 1,000 step circuit throughout the museum, touring hundreds of fun, educational exhibits and looking for "Fit Facts" filled with useful health and nutrition information. Fitness First Fridays are held on the first Friday evening of every month from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. at The Magic House and are free with museum admission.

Other participating organizations in November's Fitness First Friday include: Whole Foods, St. Louis Children's Hospital, Missouri Baptist University and Great Harvest Bread Company. Children who complete a monthly Fitness First Challenge on The Magic House's website can earn free admission to The Magic House for a Fitness First Friday.
