Parents, family members or friends supply information about any child (or adult) in their lives. Using this information, NICUPS volunteers prepare a personalized letter from Santa referencing special accomplishments in the child’s life and areas the child may need to work on, such as cleaning his or her room. The letter, which costs $6, is mailed to the child’s home.  Deadline for orders is Dec. 12, letters will be mailed Dec. 16-18. The NICUPS offer support and assistance to parents whose children are currently in or who are "graduates" of St. John’s Mercy NICU. The group relies solely on donations and is currently in the midst of fundraising with their annual “Letters from Santa” campaign – having raised more than $250,000 in 11 years.  Previous "Letters from Santa" campaigns have provided many forms of assistance for NICU families, from bedside breast pumps and developmental care seminars to financial assistance.
