Jilly's Cupcake Bar A-Go-Go is a grab-and-go location featuring the bakery's award-winning cupcakes, soups, salads, sandwiches and wraps. During lunch hours, the location also offers a unique brisket bar.

"We're so excited to bring what we do so well to West County," said Casey Shiller, executive pastry chef at Jilly's Cupcake Bar. The 1,200-square-foot, four-table cafe features foods and cupcakes prepared at the original Jilly's location on Delmar Boulevard, he said.

Sprout visited Jilly's Cupcake Bar A-Go-Go on opening day, sampling two brisket sandwiches. The "Jilly" Philly featured grilled onions, peppers, mushrooms and provolone cheese on a round bun. The Ugly Coyote had sweet and mild barbecue sauce, white cheddar and creamy cole slaw. The sandwiches were overstuffed with brisket that was tender, lean and flavorful--albeit a bit salty. Sandwiches were tasty but messy and difficult to eat without utensils. For those who want to create their own brisket sandwiches, Jilly's offers more than 20 toppings, from sauces to cheeses and veggies, to choose from. If your feeding the family, the price of the sandwiches is a bit steep: $9.50 for a brisket sandwich and bag of chips (bottled soft drinks, juice and water are available). However, those with small appetites could easily split a sandwich. The brisket bar is only open from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

If giant gourmet cupcakes are what you're after, you won't be disappointed. Single-packaged cupcakes are available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Des Peres location. A chocoholic, my favorite is the Chocolate Thunder: chocolate cake, dark chocolate ganache filling, topped with milk chocolate buttercream, vanilla buttercream, chocolate shavings and chocolate bark.

If the Des Peres location does well, Shiller said, Jilly's will look to bring its cupcakes to other locations in the metro area. For the ultimate in convenience, we're hoping the next A-Go-Go includes "a-drive-thru-thru."
