Girl Scouts Celebrate International Girls Day
NOV. 12, 2010 -- This Saturday at Saint Louis University, 250 local Girl Scouts will team up with the university's Kappa Delta Sorority members to celebrate International Girls Day.
Inspired by the message, "She Can Do Anything!" Girl Scouts, ages 5-17, will experience a day of positive self-image with activities designed to raise girls' self-confidence. The scouts will participate in workshops based on the "Uniquely Me!" Girl Scout/Dove Self-Esteem Program. Through these sessions, girls will learn to recognize their personal strengths and best attributes, handle peer pressure, develop a positive body image, and think critically about the influence of the media. This event is one of more than 250 taking place worldwide.
Girl Scouts is committed to building girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Self-esteem is an integral part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, which enables girls to develop the values and skills they need to become leaders in their lives right now and in the future.
International Girls day is a holiday created by Kappa Delta Sorority to celebrate girls of all interests and strenths and to encourage them to make their dreams a reality.
