Foam Pit Gives Skaters More Options at Plan Nine Skatepark

MARCH 14, 2011 -- This weekend, Plan Nine Skatepark officially opened its newly installed foam pit to the public. The foam pit, similar to those used in gymnastics, is increasingly used in action sports to allow skateboards and BMX bicyclists the opportunity to try new tricks safely.
The foam pits allows participants to try things that would have otherwise been to difficult to attempt before, according to Casey Otto, owner at Plan Nine Skatepark. The pit at Plan Nine Skatepark will serve area athletes by helping them progress their skills to a competitive level.
The Foam Pit, which opened on March 11, will remain open for all regular sessions at the park. It features three access points for use in many different ways. The access points include a five-foot box jump lip, a six-foot quarter pipe, and a two-foot deck drop.
Plan Nine Skatepark is located in the St. Louis Mills at 5555 St. Louis Mills Mall, Ste. 373, Hazelwood.
