Big Trucks Will Dominate May

bigtruckAPRIL 27, 2011 -- It's spring. The birds are chirping, the cicadas are shrilling and the big trucks are revving! Big truck days are happening throughout the St. Louis region and provide opportunities for your kids to view, touch and explore all sorts of trucks. Here are some upcoming options for truck aficionados.

Tons of Transportation at Deer Creek Park, Maplewood
See a dump truck, backhoe, fire truck and more during Tons of Transportation, a cooperative event between Richmond Heights and Maplewood. Touch the vehicles and even sit in the drivers' seats at this event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 7.

Big Truck Day in Glazebrook Park, Godfrey
Wednesday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., join the village of Godfrey and their fleet of big trucks for the third annual Big Truck Day. Displays include trucks from the Godfrey Fire Protection District, Pepsi America, the Godfrey Street Department and more. The free event is open to all ages.

Public Works Day in O'Fallon, Mo.
At O'Fallon's 5th Annual Public Works Fair, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, kids will be able to operate the mechanized arm that raises and lowers City trash and recycling carts, check the speed of their pitch with a radar trailer, and play a lively game of red-light-green-light with a real traffic signal. A backhoe, snow plow, trash and recycling truck, and street sweeper will all be on display.
