Adventure with dad doesn’t have to mean dad sits on the sidelines cheering at his child’s latest sporting event or school play. Occasionally it’s nice to celebrate dad with a day of fun outside the norm.
Sure, we all know your favorite sports team is your child’s team, but let’s say they don’t have an upcoming game and neither the Cardinals nor the Blues are in town. If you still want to witness the thrill of competition, the St. Louis area has a plethora of hometown teams that put on exciting games. Oftentimes, the players are accessible and interactive, too! Take some time to see all our area has to offer in local sports teams.
When your child participates in sports activities, bumps and bruises are inevitable, but when those blows affect a child’s head, it is important to watch for a possible concussion. Traumatic brain injuries (TBI), such as concussions, are any blow to the head that disrupts normal brain function. When allowed to heal properly, concussions are generally not serious, and the child can usually return to playing sports. If the brain is not allowed proper time to heal and the child suffers subsequent injury, he or she may suffer permanent brain damage, coma, or even death. TBI is the leading cause of death from sports-related injuries. It is critical to pay attention if your child experiences a hit or jolt to the head during practice or play.
St. Louis is a sports town, so it comes as no surprise that most kids are involved in some sort of sport at an early age. For your MVPs, check out these summer sports programs and camps.
