Denash Photography and the Art of Expression

For St. Louis photographer Jeff Borts, the secret to a successful shoot isn't a particular pose or a special backdrop. "We try to create an experience," Borts said. "That's what sets us apart."
For the past nine years, Borts has been the driving force behind Denash Photography, a company that specializes in everything from wedding photography to family portraits.
Regardless of the client or type of assignment, his goal is always the same. "We're focused on creating a casual, relaxed environment," he said. "We want to put our clients at ease, so that they can be fully engaged in the process."
Part of that process involves building a relationship with everyone he photographs, particularly young children and high school seniors. He's frequently praised by parents for making their kids
feel comfortable during photography sessions.
"Oftentimes when kids leave, they're handing out hugs and high fives. That's when we know we've succeeded," Borts said.
For families, Denash offers a broad range of options and packages with an emphasis on modern photography in urban settings. "Unlike a lot of photography companies, we have our own studio, with lots of great exposed brick and cool art displays that lend themselves beautifully to family portraits," Borts said. "We're also just a few minutes from Tower Grove Park and a number of other great urban locations."
Before determining a backdrop or setting, Borts says he spends a lot of time talking with clients to determine what they want out of the experience. "My goal is to give you fabulous photos every time, but before I can do that, I need to know what your goals are. I really want to understand my clients' needs in advance."
In order to better meet those needs, Borts keeps his approach flexible. "As far as locations go, it doesn't matter much to me. If a client wants us to shoot someplace special, no problem. We don't charge travel fees and we don't charge extra per pose or per outfit," Borts said. "We're not going to try to squeeze an extra $10 out of someone."
To that end, Denash Photography ensures that its pricing is clearly articulated. Clients are required to purchase a package, which run the gamut from basic to deluxe.
