Best Bets for 'Me Time'

Summer is full of new adventures, enrichment and activities, and all the hustle and bustle that goes with managing your kids' logistics. With the kids back in school, parents everywhere share a collective sigh of relief as the family schedule takes on greater normalcy. If your fun-filled summer left you feeling a bit drained, shift some of your focus back to yourself! Here's 11 ideas for getting some quality "Me Time."
Get "lacquered" up!
During your lunch break you could be pampered by the staff at the Salon at Four Seasons. Choose from either an express manicure ($45) or pedicure ($55); both include a take-away lunch from Cielo restaurant and valet parking. For details on the Four Seasons' "Lunch and Lacquer" package, visit their website or call 314-881-5758.

Sweat it out
Release some endorphins while you work out with your little one in tow. Hot Mamas in Training Stroller Boot Camp will help you get in shape, feel good and meet fellow moms. Classes are offered in Ballwin, Des Peres and Francis Park in St. Louis City. For details, email

Not sure you want to work out with your stroller? The YMCA has a variety of classes, from boogie-inducing Zumba to spinning, pilates and water aerobics. An added bonus, YMCA branches also offer nursery care and plenty of classes for kids, so you can exercise in peace. Visit the YMCA website to find your local branch or browse a list of programs.
Take a cue from your kids and go for a bike ride. Grant's Trail, MCT trails and Katy Trail State Park are great places to ride. We recommend the Katy Trail through Augusta, where you can stop and enjoy a glass of wine at one of the many wineries.
Art for Parents
Parents are pretty good at signing their kids up for enrichment lessons and fun classes. But don't forget, grownups also benefit from creative hobbies. Try a class at St. Louis Artists' Guild, where they offer drawing, painting, print-making and mixed media design for every skill level. At Chesterfield Arts, adults can sling mud on the pottery wheel, or work with pastels, watercolors, oil and acrylic. Or learn how to make a mosaic wall hanging or stained glass window at the Glass Galleria.
Share a Plate
Lunch with friends, happy hour and a girls' night out are all "Mom Time" staples, and for good reason. The opportunity to bond with and confide in other moms is important to moms' emotional well-being. For a truly "shared" experience, try tapas and sangria at a tapas restaurant. Share a plate at Barcelona in Clayton, Modesto on Shaw Avenue, Mosaic in Clayton and on Washington Avenue, and Taste in the Central West End.
Par for the Course
As a St. Louis mainstay, the sports bar provides everything many sports fans need to recharge their batteries -- sports, beer, and lots of talk about, you guessed it, sports. A new restaurant in Chesterfield Valley has taken the sports bar to a much more sophisticated level. Tee's Golf Grill is not just a golf-themed bar and grill. With PGA Tour-endorsed golf simulators, you can actually play a round while you enjoy flatbread pizza, an oyster po' boy or other dish.
