Santa Claus and his elves will once again arrive in St. Louis via the KCS Holiday Express, which will roll into Union Station Monday, Dec. 14. Visitors can tour the three festive, decorated cars and even meet Jolly Ol’ St. Nick from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event is free, and no tickets are required.
The KCS Holiday Express was created by volunteers in 2001 and features a smiling tank car named Rudy; a flatcar that carries Santa’s sleigh, reindeer and a miniature village; a gingerbread boxcar; the elves' workshop; a reindeer stable; and a little red caboose.
The KCS Holiday Express, which is operated by Kansas City Southern, helps bring attention to charitable giving. Throughout the year, employees, vendors and friends of Kansas City Southern are invited to donate to its charitable campaign. Money raised is used to purchase gift cards, which are donated to the local Salvation Army at each stop to purchase warm clothing for children in need.
